Exercise 4 - Due September 5

Native Art – Vector, Geometry and Symbol

In Adobe Illustrator make 4 drawings on one page.  Choose one design from each of the following 3 groups and copy it as accurately as possible.  Then create a 4th drawing using one of the influences below.

1.  Choose a Haida design to copy.  You will be using mostly the pen tool.

2.  Choose a Navajo rug design, try to use the "grid" option under "view" to help you construct a geometrical pattern similar to the rug.  Use the rug as a guide.

3.  Choose a Zuni pot design and try to copy a piece of the pattern and repeat it across the page.

4.  Make your own design for the 4th drawing -- using what ever style you want.  If you want to make your own in a Haida influence, or your own rug design, or your own pottery motif -- be creative!

Each drawing is worth 25 points.  100 points total.
